About Me

Hi, I’m Yanlin — a localization project manager turned localization technologist, currently pursuing my M.A. in Translation & Localization Management at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. My passion lies at the intersection of language, technology, and creativity, transforming how global audiences experience digital content.

Before MIIS, I worked at ByteDance/TikTok, managing multilingual workflows and developing automation scripts to streamline localization operations. I also gained hands-on experience at Lionbridge and Peking University’s Computational Linguistics Lab, where I built tools, handled translation data, and explored how technology can empower linguists. These experiences taught me that localization is not just about translating words, but about connecting people through culture and innovation.

I’m curious, analytical, and a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to workflows. You’ll often find me in VS Code at midnight debugging a Python script, or sketching new ideas for user-centric localization tools. Outside of work, I’m a storyteller, pixel-art designer, and animal enthusiast (especially fancy rats and capybaras!). My hobbies often sneak into my creative projects, whether it’s building a “Copybara Coffee” website or designing pixel mascots for my portfolio.

Looking ahead, I hope to become a localization solutions architect, bridging the gap between linguistic expertise and AI-driven technologies. My ultimate goal? To build smarter, more inclusive systems that make global content accessible, natural, and delightful for everyone.
